This guide demonstrates how to integrate Virtual Reality (VR) into building review workflows using Resolve, a tool for reviewing large, complex building facilities in VR. The tutorial covers identifying issues in VR and exporting those issues into a Revizto issue-tracking workflow.

Resolve allows teams to handle large models on wireless VR devices without requiring a PC. For this guide, we will use a Navisworks model of a robot manufacturing facility as an example—a type of model Resolve efficiently manages.

Reviewing the Model and Identifying Issues in VR

Step 1: Enter the VR environment with Resolve to review the model. Use this immersive experience to assess the model for coordination, health and safety, and operational issues. For example, you might detect a safety risk such as a robot arm that could swing and injure nearby personnel.

Step 2: Utilize Resolve’s speech-to-text functionality to annotate any identified issues in VR. The annotations will persist within Resolve, even as the model gets updated.

Exporting VR Annotations to Revizto

Step 3: Access the Resolve web dashboard to review the annotations made in VR. Navigate to the project’s Navisworks file and open the annotations section.

Step 4: Export the annotations in BCF format (BIM Collaboration Format), an open standard that ensures interoperability between various tools in your workflow.

Importing Annotations into Revizto

Step 5: Open Revizto and load the corresponding Navisworks model.

Step 6: Navigate to the issue tracker within Revizto.

Step 7: In the issue tracker, click the three dots at the top right and select Import Issues.

Step 8: Select the BCF file exported from Resolve, which contains all the VR annotations.

Managing VR Annotations in Revizto

Step 9: Revizto will import all annotations made in VR. Clicking on an annotation in Revizto will replicate the same view as seen in VR, providing accurate context for issue resolution.

Step 10: Use Revizto’s issue tracking tools to discuss, assign, and manage the resolution of these VR annotations. Ensure all issues flagged in VR are appropriately addressed and tracked.

Step 11: If new annotations are created or existing annotations are updated in VR, you can export an updated BCF file from Resolve and import it into Revizto to synchronize comments and keep the issue tracker current.
