If you are using the Meta Quest 3 or Quest Pro, you have access to our Augmented Reality (AR) functionality with color passthrough. With this AR feature, you can leverage Resolve to fully immerse yourself in BIM content but also overlay BIM onto the real world. You can also scale up the model to 1:1.
NOTE: If you are using the Meta Quest 2, you may also do this, but in black-and-white. It might not be a comfortable experience.
Activating AR Mode
To activate this setting, you must be in Dollhouse Mode. Then click on the “AR” button at the top of your menu to the left of the settings icon. (see below)
Centering Objects at 1:1
If you select an object by either double-clicking or using the Inspect Properties window, you can then use the new "Center" button in the Inspect Properties window to automatically bring that piece of equipment to 1:1 and center it in your playspace.
To learn how to sync multiple headsets in the same room to be able to walk around the model together, check out this article here.
Locking the Model in AR
When using AR mode, you may want to lock the model in place to prevent accidental movement, especially when walking around a model on site. To do this:
While in Dollhouse Mode, click the Settings icon (gear icon).
Toggle the Lock/Unlock option to lock the model in place.
Once locked, the model will stay fixed in position and orientation, so you can move around it without accidentally shifting it. Click the Lock/Unlock toggle again to unlock and reposition the model as needed.
For more details, see How to Lock the Dollhouse Model.
Using X-Ray Mode in AR
If you need to see through objects while in AR, you can enable X-Ray Mode. This makes the model geometry semi-transparent so you can see internal structures while still viewing the real-world environment through passthrough.
To enable X-Ray Mode:
Open the left-hand menu.
Navigate to Content → Layers.
Click X-Ray Mode to enable it.
Click X-Ray Mode again to return to normal. For full details, see How to Use X-Ray Mode.
