How to Take a Picture (Screenshot) on Meta Quest

You can take screenshots of what you see inside your headset. Like video recording, there are two methods.

Method 1: Controller Shortcut (Recommended)

  1. Press and hold the Meta button on your right controller.

  2. Immediately click (don't hold) the front trigger while still holding the Meta button.

  3. You'll hear a camera shutter sound and see a brief notification confirming the screenshot was taken.

Tip: The difference from video recording is that you click the trigger (quick press) for screenshots vs. holding the trigger for video.

Method 2: Camera App

  1. Press the Meta button to open the Navigator.

  2. Select the Camera icon from Quick Controls.

  3. In the Camera menu bar at the bottom of your screen, select the Screenshot button (the far-left button).

  4. A countdown will begin, giving you a few seconds to get back into position before the screenshot is captured.

New Feature: Capture Markers

In recent updates, Meta added Capture Markers that show crop marks at the corners of the frame before you take a screenshot. This helps you line up your shot and see exactly what will be captured.

To enable or adjust this feature:

  1. Open the Camera app and go to Camera Settings.

  2. Find Capture Markers and choose: Off, Auto hide (disappears after ~5 seconds), or On (stays visible).
