How to Cast Your Meta Quest Headset

Overview

Casting lets you mirror what's displayed inside your headset to a phone, TV, or computer browser in real time. This is useful for demos, troubleshooting, or letting others watch along.

Before You Start

  • Your headset and the device you're casting to must be on the same Wi-Fi network (and same frequency band if your router is dual-band).

  • Both devices must be logged into the same Meta account.

  • If you're casting to a phone, make sure the Meta Horizon app is installed and you're logged in.

  • If you're casting to a computer, use a supported browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) and navigate to oculus.com/casting or horizon.meta.com/casting.

Steps (From the Headset)

  1. Press the Meta button on your right controller to open the Navigator.

  2. Select Quick Controls (the bottom control bar).

  3. Select Cast.

  4. Choose your target: Mobile, Web, or a nearby device from the list.

  5. Select Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Steps (From the Phone App)

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone.

  2. Tap your Quest headset (shown in the top-left corner of the app).

  3. Tap Cast.

  4. Put on the headset and accept the casting request when prompted.

Casting to a TV

  • Chromecast-enabled TV: Your TV should appear directly in the cast device list from the headset. Select it, and casting will begin.

  • Roku, Fire TV, or non-Chromecast TVs: Cast to your phone first using the Meta Horizon app, then use your phone's screen mirroring feature (Android Cast, AirPlay, or the Roku app) to mirror your phone's display to the TV.

  • PC-to-TV via HDMI: Cast to your computer's browser, then connect the computer to the TV via HDMI for a wired connection.

Troubleshooting

  • If the TV doesn't appear in the list, restart both the headset and the TV and make sure they're on the same Wi-Fi band (5 GHz recommended).

  • Casting is unavailable while the headset is actively recording video. Stop the recording first.

  • Some corporate, hotel, and certificate-based networks block device-to-device communication, which will prevent casting.

  • If you're still unable to cast, try restarting your Wi-Fi router.
