Setting Up Azure Entra ID SSO for Resolve
This article walks you through the process of setting up Single Sign-On (SSO) with Azure Entra ID for Resolve. This setup must be completed in the customer’s own Azure tenant, using the configuration information provided by Resolve.
Note: Azure frequently updates their UI, navigation, and wording. If you notice differences, the steps should still closely match the current layout.
Prerequisites
To create and configure a new Enterprise Application, the Azure user completing these steps must have one of the following roles:
Application Administrator
Cloud Application Administrator
You can verify this in Azure Portal → User → Assigned roles.
Step 1: Open the Enterprise Applications Menu
In the Azure Portal, navigate to:
Azure Active Directory → Enterprise applications
Step 2: Create a New Application
Click + New application.
Step 3: Create a Custom Application
Select + Create your own application.
Step 4: Name and Create the Application
Enter a name for the application (e.g., ResolveBIM or Resolve).
This can be any name the customer prefers.Select: Integrate any other application you don’t find in the gallery (Non-gallery).
Click Create.
Azure will generate the application and take you to its overview page.
Step 5: Open the Single Sign-On Settings
From the application’s left-side menu:
Step 6: Choose the SAML Method
Click the SAML tile.
Step 7: Configure SAML Settings
In the Resolve dashboard, click your Profile name in the top-right corner and select:
SSO Config: {domain URL}Note: This step must be done by the user assigned as the Resolve SSO administrator.
Scroll to Step 1 and click Download Metadata XML.
In Microsoft Azure, go to the SAML-based sign-on configuration page, then click Upload metadata file.
Step 8: Assign Users or Groups
Users must be assigned to the application before they can sign in with SSO.
You can:
Assign individual users directly
orAssign an Azure Group and manage access via group membership (recommended)
Navigate to:
Enterprise Application → Users and groups → + Add user/group
Step 9: Provide Resolve With Your Metadata URL
In the SAML configuration page in Azure, locate the SAML Certificates section and copy the App Federation Metadata URL.
Go back to the Resolve SSO config page.
Next Steps
Once the metadata URL is submitted (when implemented), Resolve will automatically retrieve your SAML configuration values and complete the setup.
