Setting Up Azure Entra ID SSO for Resolve

This article walks you through the process of setting up Single Sign-On (SSO) with Azure Entra ID for Resolve. This setup must be completed in the customer’s own Azure tenant, using the configuration information provided by Resolve.

Note: Azure frequently updates their UI, navigation, and wording. If you notice differences, the steps should still closely match the current layout.

Prerequisites

To create and configure a new Enterprise Application, the Azure user completing these steps must have one of the following roles:

  • Application Administrator

  • Cloud Application Administrator

You can verify this in Azure Portal → User → Assigned roles.

Step 1: Open the Enterprise Applications Menu

In the Azure Portal, navigate to:

Azure Active Directory → Enterprise applications

Step 2: Create a New Application

Click + New application.

Step 3: Create a Custom Application

Select + Create your own application.

Step 4: Name and Create the Application

  1. Enter a name for the application (e.g., ResolveBIM or Resolve).
This can be any name the customer prefers.

  2. Select: Integrate any other application you don’t find in the gallery (Non-gallery).

  3. Click Create.

Azure will generate the application and take you to its overview page.

Step 5: Open the Single Sign-On Settings

From the application’s left-side menu:

  • Click Single sign-on
    or

  • Click Get started in the Set up single sign-on card.

Step 6: Choose the SAML Method

Click the SAML tile.

Step 7: Configure SAML Settings

  1. In the Resolve dashboard, click your Profile name in the top-right corner and select:
    SSO Config: {domain URL}

Note: This step must be done by the user assigned as the Resolve SSO administrator.

  2. Scroll to Step 1 and click Download Metadata XML.

  3. In Microsoft Azure, go to the SAML-based sign-on configuration page, then click Upload metadata file.

    • Upload the XML file you just downloaded.

    • Under Basic SAML Configuration, add the Sign On URL:
      https://app.resolvebim.com/saml/login/entra

Step 8: Assign Users or Groups

Users must be assigned to the application before they can sign in with SSO.

You can:

  • Assign individual users directly
    or

  • Assign an Azure Group and manage access via group membership (recommended)

Navigate to:

Enterprise Application → Users and groups → + Add user/group

Step 9: Provide Resolve With Your Metadata URL

  1. In the SAML configuration page in Azure, locate the SAML Certificates section and copy the App Federation Metadata URL.

  2. Go back to the Resolve SSO config page.

    • Scroll to Step 3: Enter Entra ID Metadata URL.

    • Paste the copied URL and click Save.

Next Steps

Once the metadata URL is submitted (when implemented), Resolve will automatically retrieve your SAML configuration values and complete the setup.
