Federating Models in Resolve

Written by Beau Parker

Resolve now supports creating your own federated model sets directly from Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 projects.

Note: Model federation currently only works with Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM 360 sources.

Steps to Federate Models

  1. Click Add New Model, select Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 as your Source, then choose your Account and Project.

  2. Set Mode to Federated Set.

  3. Select the files you want to include in your federated model. The file browser will show your project folder structure.

  4. Click Federate Models to proceed.

  5. On the Configure Federated Model screen, enter a name for your Federated Set.

  6. If any selected files are .RVT files, you'll need to select a View for each one (e.g., {3D}).

  7. Click Federate Models to finish.

For .NWD files only: Before adding NWD files to a federated set, ensure the "May be re-saved" checkbox is selected for those files in Navisworks before exporting. Learn more
