Using Section Cuts in Resolve Field

How to slice through the model at an object to see inside walls, ceilings, and equipment.

Written by Beau Parker

A section cut slices the model at a spot you choose and removes everything on one side of it. Use it to look inside a wall, see above a ceiling, or check what's packed into a tight space.

Creating a section cut

  1. With Measure off, tap the object where you want the cut to start. It turns purple, and a card opens.

  2. Tap Section.

The model is cut at that object.

Using the section controls

When a section cut is on, a small set of controls sits on the cut. The orange arrow points toward the side being removed.

  • Move the cut: Drag the hand button to slide the cut forward or back along the arrow.

  • Flip the direction: Tap the two-arrow button to switch which side of the cut is removed. Use this when the cut hides the side you wanted to see.

  • Turn off the section: Tap the X to remove the cut and show the full model again.

Tips

  • Pick an object that sits where you want to look. For example, tap a ceiling tile to cut just below the ceiling, or tap a wall to cut right through it.

  • Combine a section cut with hiding objects or layers to clear the view even more.
